2. I have roccived a further wanorded on the
sab mibject from the Struits Jettlemente Association
cat, of which is enclosed, and rocently a deputation
from that Association and from the china Association
represented to me that since the repeal of the Conta-
gious Tissaɛss Ordinances there had been an increase
in the number of cases of venereal disease, and in its
virulence, both in the Straits 36ttlements and in Hong
Kong, and that there was an absence of effective chanko
on brothal slavery. They urged the renewal of the ordi-
man068 under which brothels were racistared, and that
